A CAP can be placed
anywhere in areas of high pollution concentration to
minimize hazardous exposure and can be used to surpass
OSHA standards for air in the workplace.
Beauty and Nail Salons
Odors from permanents, dyes, and nail
finishes once filled the air at the Razor's Edge in South
Plainfield, New Jersey. "Clients use to complain about
the odor," says Donna Haines, co-owner of the shop.
"Now because of the CAP Clean Air Plant, chemical odors
no longer linger." According to Donna, they tried other
air filters, but they didn't work.
Photo Labs
Fixer solutions contain sulfites and acetic acid.
Inadequate ventilation can create health hazards and destroy
equipment. Photographics Unlimited had tried other systems
but ozone systems didn't work on their air and carbon based
filters would require constant changing of the
filters.
"While we had gotten used to the odors, customers
would complain and we had to replace a 15 ton HVAC system
after only five years," says Pat O'Brien.
"It
turns out that the fumes had corroded the aluminum coils.
Photographics Unlimited brought in a CAP-90 and CAP-50 to
control the odors in their custom photo laboratory.
Customers have noticed a big difference and so have
we."
Auto Mechanics' Garages and Auto
Paint Workshops
Auto repair technicians and paint shop
workers are constantly exposed to air contaminants such as
CO, VOCs, SOx, and NOx. Encouraged by the Mechanics'
Education Association of New Jersey, an indoor CAP was
designed and built to destroy these contaminants. Tested
on auto exhaust, paint fumes, brake cleaner, cigarette
smoke, and other air contaminants, CAPs remove the heavy
metals and particulates from the air, and breakdown the
organic contaminants to non-harmful compounds.
“Within a week, clients started to ask what
we were doing. They noticed a big difference in our
air.”

Delaware State Contractor Cleans VOCs
and MTBE
A state contractor, using soil vapor extraction to
clean VOC and MTBE-contaminated soil at a maintenance garage near
a public high school, was unable to start up because the untreated
vapors exceeded the permitted levels of VOCs and MTBE in air.
Application of a CAP-350 to the existing SVE system achieved a
destruction rate of 35 pounds BOD (biological oxygen demand) per
day and allowed the contractor to start cleanup.
