Fume Extractors and Smoke Extraction Systems

fume extractors and dust extraction systemsFume extractors and fume extraction systems are an essential safety component to many industrial processes,  including welding, rubber and plastic processing, laser marking and cutting, grinding, sanding, brazing, high speed machining with coolants, tempering and quenching.

Effective extraction of both wet and dry smoke and fumes from indoor air is a complex process, involving myriad considerations, but it is absolutely vital, not only for workers' safety, but for operating at optimum efficiency. IAS Dust Collectors has the experience, the comprehensive line of fume extractors, the technical expertise and the commitment to match the right extraction system to your industrial application and your budget.

Industrial Systems for Fume & Dust Extraction

welding fume extractionAccording to the National Safety Council (NSC), the majority of occupational health hazards arise from inhaling chemical agents in the form of vapors, gases, dusts, fumes and mists. While many industrial materials are relatively nontoxic under normal conditions, when heated or machined, their byproducts may be released as highly toxic respirable particulate and gasses. These emissions can include such substances as chromium, nickel, arsenic, asbestos, cadmium and nitrogen oxides. Breathing of these hazardous fumes and gasses, especially for prolonged periods, can damage the upper respiratory tract and lungs and may cause a wide variety of serious, even fatal, long term complications.

portable extraction systemsIs is essential, wherever there are industrial processes that create vapors and dust, that these hazardous chemical agents are removed from plant air, before they can adversely affect the health of workers. Not only is OSHA compliance an imperative, but overall plant efficiency depends upon safe and acceptable indoor air quality.

Different processes require different solutions for effective fume and dust extraction. Every application presents its own unique set of considerations the type process; the material being cut, joined, ground or otherwise processed; coatings on that material; the number of operators working in a given area; the duration of cartridge filters for fume smoke dust gasesoperation as well as the general ventilation and air movement in the plant. Many factors can affect the amount of fume generated and the toxicity hazards of that fume.

What is the nature and size of the airborne contaminants? Are they dusts, OSHA compliancefumes, smoke, mists, vapors or gases? Do they include heavy metals? Acid mists? Dioxins or furans? What is the shape and position of the source? The position and movement of the operator? What capture velocity is required for your emissions?

Do you need the high-volume of a central cartridge collector or the focused source capture of an extension arm? Which type filtration is best suited for your application? A ducted electrostatic precipitator for removing oily mists and smoke from multi-spindle machines, or a modular media filter system combining carbon, HEPA and other filters, downdraft tables and weld benches each with specific gas and particulate capture properties?

Is compact portability a must?  Is a downdraft table, a backdraft bench or a vacuum extraction nozzle the most efficient strategy for your particular application? Do you have special considerations like working with high temperatures or explosive materials? What about maintenance considerations? And of course a cost-benefits analysis will be central to your final decision.

Because IAS Dust Collectors represents a wide range of manufacturers, we can offer you the spectrum of choices you need to best eliminate harmful emissions from your plant air. We carry a fume extractor armshuge selection of fume extractors and dust collectors from trusted names, like Donaldson Torit and MAX Air Systems, for virtually any industrial processes—welding, soldering, brazing, grinding, sanding, laser marking and cutting, and more.

Our technicians have the experience and expertise to ask the right questions when it comes to designing the most effective, efficient and economical fume extraction system for your very specific and individual needs.

With portable vacuum systems, extension arms and downdraft tables, as well as ducted and un-ducted ambient fume, dust and smoke extractors, including electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) and HEPA filtration, all with a variety of power configurations and capture velocities, IAS Dust Collectors is sure to have the ideal solution to meet your air cleaning needs and your budget.

Let our experienced technicians solve your complex emissions problems, with one simple solution for worker health and safety, OSHA compliance and optimum productivity.
